4good  Jun 28, 2008
I bought this game to try because my father like very much table tennis.
We played together and it is very good.

5Crazy fun  Mar 20, 2008
I don't have Wii Play and never played this game on another system, so I can't speak to that, but man have I had fun playing this. The reviewer who said it takes a little time to get used to it is right, but I have spent more time playing this any other Wii Game I have. And although I usually win, I can still be beat every once in a while but a good computer opponent using a lot of spins. It's pretty good exercise too.

4Lots of fun, limited realism  Feb 26, 2008
As a table tennis enthusiast, I was primarily interested in how well the wii controller captures your movements. It turns out the controls are quite responsive and once you get used to the sharp-shooter or control-freak setup (using the nun-chuck for additional controls) you can produce breathtaking rallies.

However, it has very little to do with actual table tennis swings. I was a bit disappointed that you don't control spin with the motion but the directional pad. I would think the wiimote would be ideal for detecting topspin or backspin motions. Likewise for ball-placement: to place a ball short you have to swing downwards (unless you use the sharp-shooter setup where you can achieve that with the nun-chuck), which is very counter-intuitive for somebody who actually plays table tennis.

I understand that they have to make a game that is accessible to people who don't necessarily know how to play table tennis, but it would have been great to include that option as a separate profile for those who do.

It's still a very fun game, just don't expect it to be a simulation.

3Pretty ok...  Nov 21, 2007
This game didn't quite meet my expectations. The developers should have tried to make it more realistic. The game is really only fun for me when I'm playing with one of my friends. It's really boring to just play the computer. There are three basic paddle movements: up and to the right, straight up or down and to the left. The ball will spin according to which direction you are pushing on the D-pad and the paddle movements I mentioned only control which part of the table the ball will hit.

It's an ok game but if they had made it more like Wii Sports Tennis it would have been an improvement.

3Ping Pong Anyone?  Nov 18, 2007
When it comes to video games in the industry, Nintendo has really shown well at making games their own with a great sense of appeal. Nevertheless, that also has been said well about the Xbox 360 too. They have really shown some very dominant games that really been very surprising. That had proved well with Table Tennis as a surprise hit. However, an exclusive game for the system has now made it no longer exclusive as it makes its debut to the Nintendo Wii. But, the big question is was an exclusive game from the Xbox 360 library can thrive the exact same way onto the Nintendo Wii? This answer will get you to volley that way.

Rockstar Presents Table Tennis for the Nintendo Wii brings out last years Xbox 360 surprise classic onto the Nintendo Wii, as you try to ping pong your way into the championships. The gameplay though hasn't changed as it stood from the Xbox 360 edition, and the same features remain as they did before. The graphics are fair, but the control makes more use from the Wii remote, as you shake the controller, to help you use your paddle, to bounce your ball over the net. Not anything anything new though, if you've mastered the ping pong game in Wii Play. The fun though doesn't really measure though if you've mastered ping pong earlier, and the gameplay doesn't really change as it showed before.

All in all Rockstar Presents Table Tennis doesn't really deliver as much of being a must buy on the Nintendo Wii unlike party favorites like Wii Sports or Mario Party 8, which also feature tennis. This one feels more like it is a rental for you to play for awhile. It is good for multiplayer action, but it misses the mark on being a good ace in the hole, it feels more like a near fault.

Control: B-

Fun & Enjoyment: D+ for solo players; C for multiplayer

Overall: C 1/2-
